Re: Clean up!
Slatco, already on the early list of things to question / look at.
Since this box is really intended to be a concentrate clean-up box, the legs should probably be relatively shortened and no full shovel fulls of 'stuff' should be flung at it from any great distance. Certainly not like my Nome Beach Box!
Another 'thing of interest' is comparing it to the Multi-Sluice in terms of requiring 'support facilities' in it's use. Both are well able to be run on 12V, 1100 GPH pumps but the Boar Box can also be set up using a Honda "15" pump - which, coincidentally also powers my other highbankers. It may be (too early to say) but the B Box might fit in well at the creekside, mass reducing the big highbanker's raw concentrates, while the M Sluice might end up final finishing the process, with coffee at hand, in camp.
The other consideration is that a one man operation's concentrates can be initially concentrated daily creekside and then stored in a couple (or 3) 5 gal buckets in camp for final cleaning under more controlled (coffee swilling) circumstances.
Both units have a fixed maximum quantity of 'concentrated concentrates' from each of it's runs - meaning the same (+-) fixed volume of residue from whatever quantity of inputted material. Bottom line is that instead of hand panning 5, 10 or 15 gallons of final concentrates in camp there might be only one multi-sluice mat cleanout of a quart (probably much less) to final pan for 2, 4, or more days of shoveling work. A lot more time to drink coffee!
Thanks for the top-heavy thought - it's a good one!

Boar Box;
A picture is worth a thousand words...
I was curious to see the "Boar Box" in action!
Unboxing and Testing the New "Boar Box" from Gold Hog!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qS1i-1zqlj4
Not intended for cleanup, not a production sluice and maybe comparable to a mini-sluice.
It won't handle "shovels full" unless your shovel is a green scoop. You be the judge!

Re: Clean up!
Cleanup shortcut;
I would like to share a few details of my real world mining and clean-up experience in Alaska.
In a continuous operation, I used a Bobcat loader running 20 cubic yards an hour for 10 hours per day through a Maxibanker with 3 foot wide, 8 foot long sluice box with expanded over Astro turf. I did a clean-up every five days. In five days, one thousand cubic yards of screened once mined tailings was converted into four, five gallon buckets of black sand and GOLD concentrate.
Note: 1000 cubic yards was reduced to 1/50th of a cubic yard. That's a concentration of X 50,000.
One day was set aside for clean-up. Initially, after week one, I was anxious to see the pay! I decided to try a "shortcut".
I had a 2" Proline Dredge/Highbanker combo with a Honda GXH50 engine that was used for sampling...
http://www.prolinemining.com/dredge_hig ... _inch.html
I carefully setup the Proline highbanker at camp with Gold Hog UR Mat and Scrubber Mat, dumping into a five gallon bucket in a tub and recirculating. Sluice angle, water flow tuned to perfection!
The Proline highbanker has 1/4" punch plate over ribbed "V" mat under the hopper. The GOLD if any, always gets parked right there on the ribbed mat! (I thought)
I ran the four buckets of concentrates... drum roll, please...
There was GOLD right there! Woohoo!
The next day, I ran the reject. I spent ALL day screening to 4 mesh, 8 mesh, 16 mesh and 40 mesh. The 4 plus was inspected for nuggets, the 8 plus was panned, the 16 plus was panned, the 40 plus was panned. The 40 minus which represented 80 to 90 percent of the cons went through three Blue Bowls running in parallel.
To properly run a Blue Bowl, readers are advised to READ the papers Patent!
The Blue Bowls caught GOLD too! Woohoo!
Then... I looked in the Blue Bowl reject buckets...
OMG! There was visible GOLD right there in them buckets!
Stick around, there's more!

Re: Clean up!
My reject savings account,
After learning much to my distress, there was visible GOLD right there on top of my Blue Bowl REJECT buckets, I decided to save my reject buckets for possible "future" examination.
Fast forward ten years...
One dried bucket was weighed into kilogram Ziploc bags, placed back in the bucket and shipped as "checked baggage" on my return flight home. A couple of days ago, I came across that bucket! Having put together a BOM of an existing, recently disclosed elutriation system, I am planning to build a replica and run the reject. How much GOLD remains in that bucket?
Stick around and find out!

Re: Clean up!
Geowizard's Review;
I decided to do a review of the aforementioned video on the Boar Box where-in a reasonably well known though somewhat debatable character/YouTube actor does a "first time" review of the Boar Box.
I should preface my review with advice to wannabe character/actors thinking about creating video content. First, proof read the final content for any act or omission that might lead others to question your preparation skills.
Ready for the review?
In light of the above, prospectors should place their most favorable image forward as representatives of a much larger community.
When you are running a highbanker privately or in public and especially making a high profile product video, at least take a few minutes to plan the presentation.
Here are a few examples:
The battery; If it uses a battery, bring a fully charged (New) 12 volt battery and a fully charged backup. Polish it up and show it off.
The screen; Look in the hopper and make a mental note of the hole size in the punch plate. If the hole size is 1/2 inch, don't bother shoveling 4" rocks into the hopper.
The Prep; Prep the feed material with a simple 3/8 inch box screen before feeding. The oversize is harder to clean off of the punch plate than a two foot wide box screen resting on the river bank.
The pump; If you are recirculating, hang the water pump so it isn't on the bottom of the tub in the mud.
The bucket; Use a "show time" bucket. Stop by Walmart, spend $3.00 on a NEW Walmart Blue bucket. The video becomes a Walmart promotion as a bonus.
The suds; If it's a recirculation operation, drizzle a couple drops of Dawn dish soap - do it like a pro!
The Hopper; The hopper is a functional necessity. A hopper is not an option if the top of the box is smaller than a #2 shovel.
The Chute; The exit Chute is a functional necessity. Without the chute the oversize runs down the side of the box!
The Slope; The slope or "pitch" of the sluice bed in the box is FIXED. There's no adjustment.
The Flow; The motor has TWO speeds. 1100 GPH and OFF.
The Objective; What's the objective? No objective is stated so we don't know and cannot know of a successful result compared to any known variable or condition. Was it fine GOLD? No fine GOLD was shown.
The objective, simply stated; "IT will get more GOLD!" and here's how!
The Final analysis; The viewer is left with the sensation of having seen a NEW product operated in a haphazard manner with worn out support and no sense of any level of success or failure in the review. It caught GOLD. The viewer is left empty handed with no more clues than they started with.
Would you buy it?
Stick around for more!

Re: Clean up!
No Wiz, Dan did only what Doc from Gold Hog asked and not what you wanted. Doc asked, in essence, try it out as anyone else would and just give it a fair test.
Dan is a teacher, turned Miner, turned Youtuber as well as a personal favorite of mine. We go back a long time - back to the old GPEX forum where we corresponded frequently. Dan is an energetic Youtuber but not a thoroughly seasoned video presenter. Just the same as you and I would be in presenting a video on that platform.
Once you or I get that level of experience in video presentations then you or I can presume to critique and even criticize someone's work from a position of experience - not before, and not on another platform.
THINKING that you, most of those here or I have something of critical importance to say about someone else's video on Youtube is only an exercise in egotism and entirely counter productive. The result may well be that many would just regard the comments as not of value and disregard them, certainly a poor result. I try to never to do that.
Finally most (if not all) of your comments are, in my opinion, based on unfamiliarity with Gold Hog products and techniques. For example - you proclaim that an 1,100 GPH bilge pump is either 1,100 GPH or 0 GPH. In fact, removable restriction plugs allow that same pump to produce water volumes of 800 or 500 GPH based on how the plugs are configured. Certain Gold Hog products have specific water volume requirements so chalk that point up to technique unfamiliarity.
Personal critiques from a position of inexperience (not as a miner but rather as a critic with a sketchy "experience" viewing a few Youtube videos) should probably be redirected to the comments section of the individual video presented on Youtube.
For an impartial evaluation of a prototype (which was THE primary object of the exercise for this video) Dan seemed to be right on the money, citing strengths and weaknesses in that Alpha model. I know the improvements recommended by Dan were instantly incorporated because I ordered one of those first production units, now with the updates, a few days after Dan's video was put up.
My Boar Box is the 12th piece of equipment from Gold Hog (or modified with Gold Hog mats).
I take it you didn't order one yourself?
Joe

Re: Clean up!
A gentleman's discussion:
A discussion on a product like the Boar Box is NOT about "You and I" - it's about the BOAR BOX. When "You and I" are brought into the discussion, it only serves to weaken any reply to the "topic".
https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/how-a ... gentleman/
When I scan through the last reply, Eight out of Eight paragraphs included You or I. If we exclude the "You and I" paragraphs, there is NO salient discussion. It becomes a personal attack from a moderator based on his/her opinion versus factual observation. Opinions have meaning if they are stated as opinions and given a tangible basis for the opinion. Observation represents a higher standard in any discussion.
A few examples;
"I like it", "He's a personal favorite of mine", "We go back a long time", "your comments are, in my opinion, based on unfamiliarity with Gold Hog products"," (you are) a critic with a sketchy experience", "My Boar Box is the 12th piece of equipment from Gold Hog", there's more.

Re: Clean up!
About the Boar Box;
A "rational discussion" about the Boar Box probably should include a few points about what is "new and improved" over a conventional, prior product like a common sluice box.
It isn't stable;
From the standpoint of cleanup, The Boar box offers no improvement over a common sluice box. The first and most obvious flaw is the fact it's "tipsy". In a real world cleanup, the LAST thing you want is for the operation to fall over and spill the GOLD. It's not an improvement to build an unstable platform with excessive vertical profile. When working, our efficiency goes down when extra time and attention has to be directed toward the risk of bumping or dropping a large rock on the feed end resulting in disturbance of the flow and upsetting the settling of GOLD already captured in the mat.
A low profile, sluice box is a better choice.
Working harder, getting paid less;
A low profile reduces the "lifting:. Lifting is where WORK happens. Mining and cleanups involve several different forms of work. Exertion from digging and then twisting or turning with a load are the first two fundamental forms of work. Adding another form of work increases the expense of TIME and ENERGY needed to do the job.
It may seem trivial but the added energy needed to lift the water to the top of the Boar box takes energy from the battery. The net result is less operating time.
It's fussy;
Operating in a cleanup environment is a test of nerves and patience. There isn't room for "fussy things". Wing nuts, and loose parts that get lost often lead to the end of the mission when things cannot be reassembled.
It's a hard sell;
At two or three times the cost of an equal sized sluice box, there is no increase in through-put. It doesn't recover more gold. In summary, it costs more money and doesn't make more money.
