At the below link you will find fairly detailed basic plans to build a Water Heater that uses engine exhaust that I've built (and used now for 8 years) on a Honda 6.5 and a Honda 9hp.
This Heater will produce better than a 50 deg. rise in water temp. at more than 0.5 gpm

Re: FREE PLANS FOR WETSUIT HOT WATER HEATER
Not sure how I found him a year or so ago but Tom was kind enough to send me these plans. Very detailed and very helpful!
Appreciate the other information as well! These are issues that us "digital miners" can't even anticipate because we haven't done it before. Had this discussion with some of the "kids" that work for me yesterday. They are all 100% "digital" with no "analog" experience at all. When it comes to dredging and running a gold mining operation I am mostly in the same boat. As my neighbors in TX say, all hat no cattle.
I can only speak for myself but any info anyone wants to share about any mundane, routine and everyone knows that mining tips or hacks please feel free to share! Because guess what, there are plenty of us who don't know S**t!
Appreciate the help,
Easy goer

Kurt,
For someone who doesn't know "S--t" (that's "Spit", right?) you really do quite well - often better than some of us 'old timers' since you question things instead of 'just knowing them'. (Sometimes old timers must just have learned things not-so-right and then stopped learning, I guess.)
PM just sent.

Re: FREE PLANS FOR WETSUIT HOT WATER HEATER
Joe/Kurt/etc: The one thing I KNOW FOR SURE is I don't know it all! Unfortunately, I do most of my "learning" by making mistakes.... luckily though, usually only once!
Back in the early '80's I worked in the Homestake Mine (Lead, SD)... and learned how to drill, blast, timber, plus a host of other jobs (mostly between the 5,900 to 6,200 ft. levels)... and most what I learned does not apply to what i do now (dredge).... EXCEPT for safety. Working for Homestake over a mile underground taught me to BE CAREFUL! I might be guilty of over-thinking things.... I usually look at a new job/project and say to myself: "What can go wrong... and if it does, where do I want to be to not get hurt?" It helps!
As far as my Water Heater goes, there are dozens and dozens of ways to make one, some I'm sure are better than mine. To me, the proof is in the pudding... many have claimed their heaters work great... but to date, no one has given me actual measurements (such as background stream temp., Temp. of Hot Water & flow (GPM), and size engine it's on. Without that info, there's no way to compare.
JOE: did you ever build a Heater?

Re: FREE PLANS FOR WETSUIT HOT WATER HEATER
No Tom, I haven't myself. I really prefer high banking and only dredge now and again. I do have a 2" and a 4" safely stored away in Alaska because the bedrock on my claim there is only 1 to 2 feet deep. If I get bone chilling cold I just step out of the stream and get a cup of coffee. That's the best advantage of being 74 years old, not being "Driven to work until I drop".
I know, I know - I guess I'm just not 'all grown up' yet.
