Fractures in the earth;

Fractures in the earth become conduits for hydrothermal fluids. :o

That's why Geologists look for structural deformation in the form of fractures and faults. The two key features are structure and mineralization. Prospectors know what to look for!

Mines that have GOLD have these two features present somewhere. That "somewhere" has a high probability of being the source of the GOLD. :)

Conduits;

The world is full of fractures and faults. Millions of fractures and faults! Very few were conduits.

How do we know if a fracture or Fault was a conduit? Prospectors look for areas where rocks are hydrothermally altered. When looking at an area, it is relatively easy to see where the rocks are not altered - they are mostly all the same relatively speaking. They look the same as the surrounding rocks. Continuing to look, the rocks may appear to be different than the surrounding rocks. In a small area, the rocks will have the appearance of having been subjected to the forces of extreme heat and pressure. You can see additional fracturing. You may see many smaller and even large veins in the rocks that are not seen in the surrounding area. The conclusion is that great forces were at play. The forces alter and change the physical characteristics of the rocks. They have been hydrothermally altered. There are undoubtedly millions of places where rocks have been hydrothermally altered and there is no mineralization. So the quest continues to find hydrothermally rocks that are also mineralized! :)

Providence;

I find things happen many times without explanation! :o

There's a difference between wishing for something or asking a supreme being for help and providence.

Divine Providence is when you get the help before you realize you need it! :)

A Treasure Hunt;

After going through a study of the Macro Geology, I settled down to getting on the GOLD.

Having acquired mining claims and established a camp at Ophir, I was approached by a mining company about a mining lease. The company already had heavy equipment in the area and was ready to go to work.

A lease was signed and mining began in early 2010. Mining was going well and I flew back to the lower 48 for ten days to meet with an investor.

When I returned, the miner presented me with 40 ounces of GOLD which represented my 10 percent royalty on GOLD he produced in ten days! :o

While I was gone for the ten days, he decided to "do some prospecting". His discovery was outside of his lease and he would not tell me where the discovery was made. He offered to buy the mine, I said, "No". He asked to extend his lease to cover the next 40 acres. I said, "No".

After introduction to my investor, the miner moved (with my investor) to a neighboring mine.

With NO equipment, NO mine income, and NO investor, I began a Treasure Hunt. :)

Looking for Clues;

Based on the request to extend his lease, I could assume the Discovery was made within a 40 acre area. That was reasonable because it was close to his plant. Other clues were based on "fresh disturbance" of the surface including tracks made by a bulldozer and excavator.

The scope of the Treasure Hunt;

A 40 acre parcel of land is 1320 feet long - along the road and creek. There are a number of areas that were disturbed and included heavy equipment tracks.

In that type of operation the disturbance should be easy to find. Hard to hide heavy equipment action.

Jim,

Very true! They knew that too.

So, there were numerous cat trails and debris pushes. All would need to go through a process of opening up and prospecting. :)

Included or excluded;

The purpose of prospecting is to "Include" or "Exclude" portions of a mining property.

Prospecting for GOLD at Ophir has revealed NO GOLD in the areas east of Ophir Creek Road. :o

There had been conjecture that GOLD eroded into Ophir Creek from the high ground to the east. It is now confirmed that NO GOLD eroded into the eastern portion of the property. That conclusion closes any further work on the east side and allows higher confidence in forward planning to mine the remaining ground on the west side.

The element of time has worked in favor of being able to develop more efficient and robust tailing pile mining methods. Original tailing pile mining was accomplished as a learning tool.

Timing is everything;

Timing in the world of GOLD mining has everything to do with the price of GOLD. At this point in time, the price of GOLD is at $1900.00 per troy ounce. A cost effective method of mining is being developed and will be tested as soon as fabrication is completed.

Stay tuned! :)

Surfing and GOLD;

Surfing and GOLD mining have a lot in common. :o

You can only go surfing when "The Surf is Up!"

Surfing requires preparation;

Yes, you're gonna get wet!

You lie down on the surfboard and paddle out... You watch and wait, you feel the sensation of being lifted...

You "Ride the Wave"! :)

Maxi-Banker;

What is a Maxi-Banker?

A Maxi-Banker is a wash plant with a 3 ft x 8 ft or 3 ft x 16 ft sluice box, a spray bar and an inclined wet screen.

http://www.stampede-gold.com/maxi-banker/wash_plant.pdf

It is designed to be flown on a Cessna 206 or 207 in to a remote airfield. It is constructed by hand using pre-cut pieces of Unistrut. Bolts and nuts are used to assemble the Maxi-Banker. You only need two 9/16" combination wrenches to assemble! :)
