I'm with you, one of the best and cheapest methods for improved recovery is cleaning the box often. I never go longer than 6-8 hrs.

Dick,

Was watching the Dave Turin Lost Mine show and couldn't help but think of this. They got on good gold the last day and ran 18 hours before cleanup. At least that was what they represented on the show. They couldn't get over how there was GOLD all the way down the sluice, I would bet it went all the way down and out as well.

All you hear about on these shows is how shutting down the trommel is costing them "XX" amount per hour in GOLD. I would argue that every hour they run when the sluice is no longer able to catch GOLD is the only time they are "losing" GOLD.

I have always enjoyed watching Dave and he seems competent, one can only wonder how much of this is making television. I think it would benefit every operation to have the same attitude as a NASCAR pit crew, pull the mats, clean it up and get it back on the track.
