Ditto;

I originally started using the larger "dishy" as they call it. It works great in the Ruby Area with little competition for air time. In busier areas like Anchorage, users may have lower speeds because more users end up cutting down on bandwidth. As with any router based access, users divide the time

Its a amazing piece of tech I am thankful to have. I use it prospecting to see where I am at against the current claim boundaries. Next step will be the direct integration into your cell phone where you pay extra on your phone bill to have starlink sat connectivity.

Mini;

I picked up a mini last July to take up to my diggin's in Alaska. The mini is more portable and provides mobile communication as well as simple connection with only one power cable as mentioned earlier.

Starlink was charging $100 for 50 GB of data with an option to add data at $1.00 for each GB. 50 GB is really not enough in my case. I use 100 GB per month. I was thinking Elon was selling systems cheep and picking up profit on the data side! I got an email the other day... Starlink is bumping up the data to 100 GB for $50.

Note: Your pricing may vary. :)

I'll bet there are a number of folks on this forum now using Starlink! It has become such a versatile tool for bush communication and Starlink keeps coming out with crazy plans for service.
One Starlink plan now is such an amazing deal for emergency coms. I bought a second Mini for $200 and placed it on the Standby mode plan. For $5 a month you can have fantastic emergency communication anywhere!!
The standby mode plan gives you unlimited data at 0.5Mbps rate, which is great for emailing/texting and even web browsing. I have not yet tried it for wifi calling.
An update on this Mini on the standby mode plan. If all a person wants is to be able to do emails, texting or light web browsing, this is a heck of a deal! I have now used it a bunch for phone calls using wifi calling and it performs flawlessly! For $5 bucks USD a month, this is an awesome deal for remote coms and to have for a backup !
