The NEW level;
Geophysical prospectors represent a new breed of prospectors. The art and science of Geophysical exploration has been around for 100 years. It isn't NEW. Learning to use NEW tools and technology is part of the the process of becoming a Geophysical Prospector.
When we think of Remote Prospecting, there are places that really are remote. There are places in Alaska that are virtually impossible to get to. The Alaska Range is an example of a part of the world that is "extreme" in terms of access.
There are no roads!
No roads? Nope..., NO roads. There is a trail called the Iditarod Trail. The Iditarod Trail runs from Anchorage to Nome. It is a "Winter Trail" used by mushers with dog sleds. No Roads and...
It's all covered up with Tundra... Unfortunately, we cannot SEE what is hidden beneath the tundra!
There are few things that represent a greater set of obstacles to the COMMON prospector!
If you can climb up on a chair and reach a Computer Keyboard, join me in a NEW level of prospecting!

An inferred conductor;
One of the things we want to look for are "conductors"...
Systems like DIGHEM are designed to measure the earth and locate conductive ore deposits.
That's what a Metal Detector does...
When we locate a conductor (an anomaly) it is inferred from the signal response of the detector.
We can obtain a physical location and begin a plan to go onsite and sample the anomaly.
From available literature, the deposit is a probable Moly-GOLD deposit.
It is located 13 miles North West of Rainy Pass Lodge.

Hitchhiker's Guide to Helicopters;
Alaska is a busy place during summer. Common routes through mountain passes are like highways in the sky...
Rainy Pass is no exception. Helicopters fly people and supplies to and from exploration sites every day.
We contact a few Helicopter Charter companies in and around Anchorage and ask about the possibility of sharing the cost of a flight from Anchorage to our anomaly. A return flight is also arranged.
Sharing the cost of a flight saves money for a prospector as well as the company that is otherwise paying full fare for the flight!

Knowing where to dig;
The thing I like about metal detecting is knowing where to dig...
Has anyone thought about how much time and how much distance is traveled when metal detecting for each of those sudden, by now unexpected hits? Now, we "KNOW" where to dig!
Nugget hunting would be impossible without a metal detector.
Really!
Imagine the amount of digging we would have to do to find a nugget without a metal detector.

Knowing where to dig begins with knowing where GOLD is...
A casual prospector doing a casual search for GOLD mining districts in ALASKA will be pleasantly surprised!
There are many mining districts with RICH histories of GOLD discoveries and GOLD production.
There are NEW mining districts that are being discovered through work being done by the Alaska Department of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. The results of the surveys are published in the form of maps that can be downloaded. Never before in the history of mankind has an opportunity existed like this for Geophysical Prospectors.

A computer with internet access opens up opportunity to view Geophysical Survey Data from the comfort of your Arm Chair!
Online data bases allow prospectors to check on mining claim status, get maps, satellite images too!
