Test trommel
Fabbing up a little test trommel to use to test some new ground if my permits ever get First Nations approval. Yes, I know the barrel appears orientated the wrong way- i did it on purpose to carry tailings farther away from the skid.

Re: Test trommel
Sweet! Looks like a good start. What gauge is the barrel made of?
You planning some sort of grizzly on that hopper?

Re: Test trommel
I had it waterjetted as a single piece. Cost me around $700 but having a combination sprocket/thrust ring was worth it to me.

Re: Test trommel
Barrel is 1/2" i believe. Haha your previous posts have me talked out of a grizz but I may build one up that is bolt on so I can take it on/off.chickenminer wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 1:54 amSweet! Looks like a good start. What gauge is the barrel made of?

Re: Test trommel
Well that heavy of a barrel can take the abuse for sure. I really dislike using a grizzly but sometimes it is a necessity. All depends on the ground.
I have around 6,000 yds through this test plant of mine w/o a grizzly but I can see it is taking a toll on the drum. Although the drum is only 1/4" material at best, might even be 3/16th!
Looking forward to seeing a video of it all setup and running!

Re: Test trommel
Well, unfortunately I didn't get much for videos of this little unit in action but it worked real well. I have a couple mods to do prior to starting next season but overall very happy with it. Also survived with no grizzly so you may be onto something here Mr Chickenminer. One really cool thing is that it fits just about perfect in my rocktruck!

Re: Test trommel
Sorry not to see photos or video of the little plant running! What mods are you planning?
How did the testing on the new ground go? Questions .... questions !

Re: Test trommel
Did the photo link in the previous post work?
For mods I found I had water carry over along the solid sections on the drum. I need to weld in some angle iron deflectors to push that water into the screen section. Further mods are simpler like rubber baffles to keep the material flowing into the sluice box and a damping matt in the box itself.
Testing went good, gold in every test although nothing that is of mineable grade yet. I am permitted for 25 test pits 12 ft x 12ft x 15 ft and I only got 4 done so still lots to do next year.

Re: Test trommel
Yes, photo link worked fine.
I noticed it looks like your equipment is on tailings, are you testing tailings? Or some side/bench ground along a worked creek?
