This was before my 4" dredge. No air, just a lot of hard work. That was about 20 years ago. Oh to be young again and have the money I have now. Not rich, just not broke.

Isn't it amazing what we used to do out of pure necessity? That is the dredge I started out with too, it has moved a lot of river material. Unfortunately most of that material was not gold bearing simply because I didn't know what I was doing. After all doesn't pure reason tell us that all that sand and small pebbles go up the nozzle easier? No plug ups or cobbles to throw either.

Right up stream and to the right of that big rock we found a 2 1/2 gram nugget about the size of a nickel. The next year after spring runoff all of that gravel was missing. A few years ago a flood came through and the water was over the top of the big rock. We couldn't get in there for about 2 years and then they bulldozed everything around and now it's almost impossible to work the area.

The narrow nature of that gorge should have made for good deposits. You sure had a good hole going there for a small dredge and no air.
