Free tool for Alaska Prospectors ...feedback welcome

Post by chickenminer » Mon Jun 15, 2026 4:04 am

I received the following email from Shannon Higgins. If you guys want to check it out, I am sure Shannon would appreciate any feedback ... Shannon's email, shannonbox1999@gmail.com

"Hi,
My name is Shannon and I run AuthoriProspector (prospector.authori.us),
a mapping tool built specifically for serious prospectors. I came across
the Alaska Gold Forum while looking for communities doing real ground
work in Alaska and wanted to reach out directly. The tool overlays live
Alaska DNR mining claims (both active and pending), BLM federal land
status, historic mine sites, offshore mineral leases, and State Mining
Areas all on one map.

Alaska was a priority build for us because the DNR data is notoriously
hard to cross-reference visually. It's free to use right now and I'd
genuinely love feedback from Alaska prospectors who know the ground —
you'll spot data gaps or accuracy issues faster than anyone. If you're
open to sharing it with your community I'd really appreciate it. Happy
to answer any questions about how it works or what data sources we're
pulling from.

Thanks for building such a long-running resource for Alaska prospectors.

Shannon

Research of all sorts into what has happened within a given area's history is something we all should do our best to seek. Prior ownerships of claims (or the absolute lack of interest) as well as topo info for access are things that do help to give a better idea as to potentials for an area of interest. This does look to be a useful compliment to The Alaska Mapper and other state historical sources.
At the very least, this seems to be interesting and worthy of a look see.
For any miner knowledge is power - eh!
