Ho, Ho, Ho & Happy, Happy!

Post by Joe S (AK) » Sun Dec 22, 2024 6:12 pm

Just a quick post to wish all my many friends here on the forum the very best Christmas and, of course, a great New Year.

Now, that may not be a Gold related post this time - but I think I'll do it anyway.

I hope that this New Year will finally start the recovery process to regain the common values we all grew up sharing - especially the cultural values that have taken such a sound beating over the last decade or two.

So, when you can, get out there and dig a bit in the dirt and share your well earned, seasoned, mining experiences with the rest of us here on the forum.

Merry Christmas Joe (and everyone else) ....
I hope Santa brings you some new gadgets to play with and try out in 2025 !

I'm hoping for a new 200 size excavator in my stocking this year :D

Dick, you'd better beef-up your mantel and get some hyper strong hangers for that stocking!

For me, right now, I simply hope that I can just make it back to Trapper Creek this coming spring.
A year ago, besieged with truck breakdowns for over 4 continuous months, had me traveling the Alcan during a stretch of -40 degree nights.
I would-a been A-OK if the alternator hadn't given up, at midnight, 25 KM before Haines Junction. I limped in but it was tight. NEVER, ever, ever, ever break down there because there isn't one mechanic near that town in the winter. It took me a day and then a LOT of $ to get a tow to Whitehorse. After 45 minutes there I was cruising along in comfort and style.
I guess, "What doesn't kill you outright makes you stronger." is actually true after all.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all. And reporting in just so you know the site isn't dead yet.
I'm not as committed as maybe several of you; but do have my prospect shaft awaiting me to
resume work. I check the site weekly to see new posts. maybe come spring i can make a strike & announce.

as an aside::: what about FLINTGREASEWOOD ? His operation of shaft/bedrock similar to mine ( with exceptions)
he sent me a video of his hoist bucket dump mechanism.

Greetings from the only state with NO GOLD! 110 years since Louisiana has seen this much snow! Not to get political but Hell has surely frozen over, the media maybe got one right.
In light of recent events I believe something has certainly changed. Agree or disagree, it sure seems like things are going to get interesting. Couldn't find a spot where this fit, sorry for posting out of the correct forum .
We look like Alaska, does that count.

We been hearing on the news about the "arctic blast" system that hit the south.
Did you make a snowman ?!
That is a fine looking panning pond you have there :)

No snowman! The snow was really dry, strange considering how close we are to the Gulf of Mex.....America .
Only got to about 16 degrees here, they were predicting 11 last night. The I-10 is closed from Houston, Tx to Mobile, Al right at 500 miles. We don't have the first truck to salt or snowplow to plow!

Must be that (mis)management concept that simply deferring plowing will be a mute point come July.

Down to Zero (F) two nights ago here in Northern Idaho but warmed up to a balmy +4 (F) this morning at dawn. Only a trace of snow - but February is coming ! ! !

A ton of winter work getting done - including mining equipment maintenance. Even though I was stuck here for the past year with a medical "thing" the engines still need to be maintained. I'm trying to convert a couple of small engines to Propane to try to reduce the carb problems that show up regularly. GenSets are the worst if they just sit for a couple of months. Draining all fuel helps a lot but even so ..........
Anyone trying any new style of equipment this coming summer? SOMETHING new just must have popped up for us to look at.

All the Best!
