Satellite Imagery

Post by Slatco » Tue Dec 18, 2018 3:05 pm

Hi there, I know most people like to use Google Earth for imagery but I have found that the coverage for my area is spotty at best with cloud cover and low resolution. Another option that works better (at least for my area) is Planet.

You can register for a free trial and get it for 14 days. It does monthly updates and was neat to watch active logging in my claim area and see the access roads that were being opened up.

Slatco,

Thanks for that information! :)

I have used Google Earth Pro for years. Google Earth Images come from a number of different imaging satellites. The images are improving over time as new, higher resolution satellites are launched and better images come into the public domain.

It's a great resource for getting a view of terrain and looking at probable erosion models for placer GOLD and "geomorphing" to determine sources of GOLD in the form of LODE deposits.
