Devin gold sluice cleanup

Post by Slatco » Tue Nov 10, 2020 3:05 pm

Hey there, here is a quick little video of one of my daily cleanups from October. It was the last day sluicing and we were in the dark so the video is not the greatest. As mentioned in previous posts, this cleanup sluice works really well for the type of gold I am currently mining.

Thanks for the Video. Never used the Devon Sluice System. A couple of friends of mine are working on a good solution for getting the fine gold (minus 100 mesh) out of Black Sand coming from a gravel pit without using chemicals. We are talking about a lot of black sand. Any thoughts on the Devon System for this, perhaps the Black Sand is too dense. I thought a shaker table would work but they don't have the funds for that at this time.

Kurt,

A smaller shaker table w-o-u-l-d work on the cons - but m--i--g--h--t--y slowly, while larger tables are pretty expensive. The trick is to have the system to capture the fines from a blue million yards of raw material first, before the shaker table (or other finishing tool) is brought into the action.

Everyone has their favorite way to work their gravel. Sometimes it's location specific and sometimes "It's just the way I learned." If "it" works for you then that's what you should use.

I've seen the Devon system work in videos - along with other of the more exotic nature - but once again it's up to the user to decide.

One aside - I have spent quite some time staring at a large, large shaker table - and quite frankly it was a bit ineffective on the very smallest sized Gold. As with any gravity based recovery system it's entirely possible that a very specific setup of a highly controlled (smaller?) final, final, final finisher system might just be your answer. Letting water and gravity (along with engineered drops or riffles) may be the ticket for the smallest sizes.

PM to you.

Slatco,
Thanks for posting but dang, that was so short of a video clip I really couldn't gather much out of it. Maybe next year do a longer one so I can get a better look at the system in operation.

Dick, you're so demanding !!!

But you're right of course - longer videos are sooooo much better for winter withdrawal therapy.

Slatco,

Very generous of you to share the video with us. Nice color in the sluice!

No commercials, narrated in English, and you eliminated the 30 minute lead-in with a selfie stick! :o

It's all about gittin' GOLD! Keep up the good work! :)

Thanks for the comments guys. I always tell myself to take more/better videos and then when I am out there mining that just seems to go to the back burner lol.

Sharing "the experience";

The way it works is do a video as you gas up the equipment (argh!). Then set up a camera to do a ten hour video of a loader running back and forth. Then after a week of ten hour videos, roll out the carpet and do a four hour video demonstrating the process of screening concentrates. Then a few more hours of video feeding a Devin GOLD sluice.

Finally, a video of a 30 second happy dance! :o

Boy I hear you there! Same goes for taking photos. I'd love to see a more detailed video clip of you using
that Devin setup.
