Re: Oh say can you see on Alaska Mapper Lite

YIKES! Great link there, LEONARD!

Leonard, that is really obvious where the dredges worked. Just on the SE corner of the town of Fairplay there is a VERY obvious bunch of them.

Re: Divers and helpers on dredges

I have met Jim's "Rock Man" - and he is every bit exactly as Jim has described him.

A major asset to any mining operation as well as a valued friend.

Re: ICEBREAKER!

OK, even though I don't use the beach box at the moment I am curious about that "Triangular" deal. Would that be regular woven wire screen mounted 45 degrees to the water flow making a diamond shape? Something else? What sized classification would "Properly" seem to suggest? Small, Medium, Large or ...

Re: ICEBREAKER!

Anyone Else? Certainly the conditions of your individual areas make for a wide range of site specific set-ups, so lets hear about them. We all can learn from what you have found in working your Neck of the Woods. While I often have a lot of clay in the soil where I work it does (with certain excepti...

Re: ICEBREAKER!

Yes, I have seen photos of that style of expanded and know that it came very highly recommended. As I remember it, the problem was availability at the time - so, possibly that has changed since then. As to a shovel-in highbanker or river sluice not being optimum for it's use - possibly a smaller siz...

Re: Silence

Directly under the stem on the very bottom is a small depression.

Look in there, Jim, just keep looking until you find it.

Re: ICEBREAKER!

Hey There Slatco! Just what I thought - "Different Horses for Different Courses". It would seem to me that the riffle side profile (with the traditional 17 degree up turn?) would give the slurry flow a rise, and then a dip down between riffles - resulting in some scouring of the lighter materials do...

ICEBREAKER!

OK, enough of the 'ole "I just don't have time to post" thinking. Lets try this one on ------- What kind of riffles/catchments do you use in your box and why do you use what you do? For me - it's usually Gold Hog mats. The various "riffle" shapes really do well for where I work, which is usually jus...
