Going back a few posts to the swing motor replacement - you replaced it as it was leaking oil into the case or into the rotec? What was the exchange cost? FYI- I put about 30 hrs on my new to me 290 and was very pleased as it ran flawlessly. One never know with auction purchases....

Haha Joe you need to increase the frequency to make up for the volume (I am reminded of my buddy who grabbed a really small stick to try and bash a porcupine and had to hit it 1000 times). Looking forward to it Mr Chicken! I guess another update for me is I picked up a 2012 290 Hitachi that I am getting sent to my newly permitted property. 25 ft dig depth on that bad boy, can't wait to see what is hiding down there!

If you use a fast cleaning sluice like a LeTrap or use spare set of carpets you can speed up the time of cleaning up your sluice box. Also a marine boat tank tied into your water pump will let you run longer between fuel fill ups.

I just got back from my first trip out and dealt with the usual mech issues. Best fix was a metal hydraulic line on my dipper cylinder rubbed through and I was able to weld it up with tiny 1/16" 6013 rods although it took me a couple of tries. Also helped a neighbor change a turbo on a backhoe.
