Have you searched on Youtube for dredge hot water heating systems?
I'm not a dredger but I've sure heard enough horror stories of guys building their own
system only to get burned, literally! So be careful with that project.

Re: A Modern Take On Old Time Drift Mining
Oh man, tough break Kurt. Fighting overflow is a frustrating battle! Amazing how that water creeps through the snow and even goes uphill !!
I'm fought many of those battles and unfortunately lost most.

Easygoer...
Very good. You should have no problem. Just talk to the DNR mining guys. They are helpful.
Lots of history up there.
Good luck !

Easy goer ...
Where are your claims located? I understand they are State claims but are they State river bottom claims?
If you have State river bottom claims in a Federal corridor then permitting can be a little more burdensome
like Glenn says.

Re: APMA for Suction Dredging
Easy goer ... It isn't rocket science. Just fill it out to the best of your ability. If you have questions call the mining section at DNR. You can also request a copy of a currently filed APMA for dredging. The APMA application usually has an example mine plan narrative to go by. Any structure on St...

Re: 2018 Season
Slatco... Yes, building a trommel that can handle anything you throw at it is the way to go. I hate grizzlys on a feed hopper so I built my plant to handle any rocks that fit in a one yard bucket! My plant is made from a piece of the Alaska oil pipeline, 48" dia and the pipe is 1/2" thick. I've been...

Re: A Modern Take On Old Time Drift Mining
Kurt,
I would very much appreciate you putting that list of parts together and any details on building those
heating rods. I'd love to give them a try.
What do you figure each of those rods draw in watts ? Curious what size gen you have to run to power
15 of those rods?
Thanks!

Re: A Modern Take On Old Time Drift Mining
Kurt, Glad to see you back at it. I am intrigued by your "heating rods". Can you please go into more detail. That is an impressive block of ground to thaw in 10 hrs. How close do you have to place holes to thaw that block in that time frame? I'm with you, I quit using steam while working alone after...

Re: Christmas Gold
If the hot soapy water doesn't work, soak it in acetone. That will dissolve the adhesive.
Pretty cool Christmas gift for sure. Enjoy !
